While taking in the pink and the purple sunsets in the palm tree-filled skyline, summer suddenly won’t seem so far away when you’re relaxing by the pool with a few friends by your side and a signature record cocktail in hand.

Tucked away in the Santa Rosa Mountain range, the Rancho Mirage resort is surrounded by the beauty of Southern California’s desert landscape and, during winter months, a break-taking view of the snowcapped mountains. Like any true getaway, the luxury resort seems enclosed by nature and far from the stress of city living as it overlooks the Coachella Valley – but for the socialites who crave a little nightlife, shopping and dining is not far away. The resort is a mere 12-minute drive from Palm Desert’s famous shopping strip, El Paseo, which as Pacifica Seafood Restaurant and Mastro’s Steakhouse (not to mention that dining out provides an excuse to visit some of El Paseo’s charming

boutiques). During the day, take advantage of the proximity to the Living Desert Museum or the deluxe golf courses at Mission Hills Country Club less than four miles from The Ritz-Carlton.

Of course, if “out and about” isn’t your thing, there is plenty to keep you entertained on the gorgeous property alone. For one, keep up your summer tan by soaking in the year-round sunshine at the resort’s expansive outdoor swimming pool – or reach the pinnacle of relaxation at the renowned spa which offers Swedish Massages, 30-minute treatments and custom facials. In the meantime, let your children be someone else’s immediate responsibility for a few hours as they learn about the natural wonders of the desert with fun activities through the Ritz Kids program.

After a day of play in the sun, enjoy the desert’s warm nights with an al fresco meal at one of the resort’s exquisite restaurants: The Edge Steakhouse or State Fare Bar + Kitchen (and don’t forget about the refreshing lunch and drinks by the Air Pool Bar during the day!) “The Edge” is no misnomer – it’s literally set

650 feet up into the cliffside with unrivaled views of the greater Palm Springs area. With a menu specially crafted by Executive Chef Bruno Lopez and Chef de Cuisine Robert Ruelaz, we beg of you to order the Chef’s Special of Lamb Shank served with parsley root puree, charred broccoli rabe and lemon confit vinaigrette. As for the State Fare Bar + Kitchen, the staff raves about the State Fare Prime Burger with onion bacon jam and hopscotch cheddar, aioli and arugula served on a pretzel bun, or, for a lighter option, the Arugula Salad with medjool dates, feta, sliced almonds and honey-shallot vinaigrette. And always, always leave room for dessert.
